Hopefully these FAQs will answer most things that you’d like to ask, but if not please just get in touch. I’d love to hear from you!
I want to book you for a special occasion. Is it possible for you to come to me?
Yes! Depending on my availability and the location you require me to get you ready at, then this may be possible. Travel costs may apply, this will be confirmed once you send me an enquiry.
Do you require a minimum booking for weddings?
For weddings, I offer two packages:
– One is perfect for bridal parties and includes a preview appointment for the bride and makeup on the day for the bride plus up to three members of the bridal party.
– The other is my Exclusive Bridal Only Package, which is just for the bride.
Additional numbers can book onto the Bridal Party Package, if necessary. So there’s no minimum number required—it just depends on which package suits your day best!
When should I book my bridal makeup preview?
It is completely up to you how far in advance you book your preview with me. Some brides like to have an earlier preview so they can feel organised knowing it’s something ticked off the big to-do list! And others prefer to wait until closer to the wedding date, so it’s something to look forward to and so they know they will have more understanding of other aspects of their wedding planning/theme.
From my experience though, I normally advise a good couple of months prior to your wedding day, roughly 2-4 months before, due to the possibility of preferences changing on the desired look with the overall styling for hair/makeup and accessories.
Due to my weekends being booked up for weddings, makeup previews are held Tuesday – Thursday and on alternate Fridays only, excluding the months of July & August. These are held at my studio, based in Grafton Regis.
Are you able to travel to my location?
Absolutely! I’m based in Grafton Regis, Towcester but can travel anywhere, depending on my availability. Travel charges may apply, and some additional charges may also apply if you require setting up between two venues, but I can confirm this for you once you send me your full enquiry.
Do you also do wedding hair?
Unfortunately, I don’t offer hair services—I specialise in makeup only, as that’s where my passion truly lies. That said, I work closely with some amazing hairstylists and love recommending them! For any supplier recommendations, you can find a few of my favourites listed in the ‘Supplier Friends’ section.
Just in case it helps though, I have helped lots of brides with my SOS kit, which includes hair accessories, hairspray and mini straighteners and the SOS kit is there for the bridal party if they have forgotten something.
Why is bridal makeup more expensive than occasion makeup?
This is, rightly, one of the most frequently asked questions for any bridal makeup artist.
Firstly, bridal makeup is a bespoke and specialised service, which is why it is charged at a premium service. Each bride’s wedding is completely different, and all require tailored needs.
The products used for bridal makeup and how they are used should be done in such a way that is equivalent to red carpet makeup; it must feel comfortable, look good and natural in person. It also needs to photograph and video beautifully, while required to last and feel good all day. The difference in pricing compared to occasion makeup reflects the additional time spent with all bridal parties, admin and communication leading up to the day, time spent on the wedding day itself, as well as insurance and kit costs.
What is the maximum number of people you can do?
The amount of makeup services I can do on the wedding day will often depend on the time you all need to be ready to leave for the ceremony and how early I am allowed to enter the room/venue we will be working from.
For the day to run smoothly, I always ensure that I arrive promptly and on time. Your detailed schedule, which will have been created ahead of the day, will ensure that the morning runs on time with each person getting the right amount of attention required. I strongly advise for the schedule to be sent to all bridal party members ahead of the day, so they understand how the morning will run.
What should I expect at the makeup preview and how can I prepare for it?
A preview with me, is always relaxed, fun and a great opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will talk all things wedding and I love to hear about all your plans and choices, for example, wedding dress, colour schemes, hair styles, flower choices etc. This will be followed by a conversation regarding your ideal makeup vision, where we will then start to design your bridal makeup. Please come prepared with inspiration images to the preview appointment.
Feel free to bring a friend or family member along with you, as it’s always good to get a second opinion. I also recommend you wear something light in colour, preferably a colour like your ideal wedding dress, that can help you understand how your makeup will look on the day.
For all of my brides to be, I send across my special Bridal Booklet. A 14-page online booklet, packed full of skincare advice, information on what to expect at your preview appointment/on the wedding day, my wedding morning top tips, and lots of additional information my brides find useful.
What brands of makeup do you use?
I spent many years working for various professional makeup brands, and this allowed me to trust and fall in love with multiple products that are staples in my kit. I am skincare and makeup obsessed and I am always researching new brands, products, and styles.
A few of my favourite brands are some of the followings: Charlotte Tilbury, Laura Mercier, Nars, Morphe, Dior, Inglot, Tarte, NYX and Makeup Revolution – all tried, tested, and trusted!
Are you insured?
Yes, personal liability insurance is assured.
